If you haven’t been on the drag queen club scene (or watched RuPaul’s Drag Race) recently, then I better fill you in on some popular drag queen songs. The drag community love their pop icons, and so, of course, they love the tunes they created.
There are certain tunes that, whenever I hear, I instantly think of some epic, grand lip sync performance, that simultaneously brings the audience to tears and laughter. Some songs force you to get up and sing along, whether that be on the stage or in the shower.

10. I Kissed a Girl- Katy Perry
A classic song about sexual experimentation. This song could be taken in so many different ways from campy to sexy!
9. Call Me- Blondie
Perhaps I am a bit biased but I LOVE THIS SONG. I am a fan of all things Blondie and this song always gets me feeling my oats and ready to perform.
8. Holding Out For a Hero- Bonnie Tyler
The Power, the passion, the perfection of this song makes it a classic lip-sync choice. I promise you, if you perform this song you will have the whole crowd living for you.
7. 9-5 – Dolly Parton
A Classic. I know these are all classics but 9-5 is a classic. This song propels people to the dance floor, its sassy, fun and upbeat.
6. Toxic- Britney Spears
Okay, maybe this one is a little overdone, BUT it’s still soooooo goooood. The tune is compelling and fun, and everyone knows it, so why not!
5. I’m Coming Out- Diana Ross
I don’t think I need to justify this one, but just in case I will. Diana Ross is such an icon and this song epitomises the queer club scene, it’s so simple and perfect for an engaging lip-sync.
4. Believe- Cher
I couldn’t do this list without including a Cher song. This song is funky and well-known but is also open to creative interpretation and remixing, I reckon you could create some hilarious mixes using this track.
3. Dance with Somebody- Whitney Houston
What better way to get your audience dancing with you than to announce it to the world! Whilst showing off your moves, you could invite some audience members up to dance along with you to enhance the effect of the track.
2. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun- Cyndi Lauper
The song speaks for itself, girls just wanna have fun show why not bring some fun to the stage with this classic track!
1. Vogue- Madonna
There is no denying this song is a classic lipsync number. It reflects the dance style that evolved in Harlem in the 80’s, a time that banded queer people together. So, get on your heels and get vogueing!
