5 DIY Drag Challenges

To all the crafty queens out there, I have a challenge for you!

Below is a list of 5 items and I challenge you to try use them in your next look. They could be used to create a stylish necklace, some fab footwear, or perhaps even your whole ensemble- its up to you!

1. Tissue Paper

I feel like this could be a pretty easy material to play with. It could be used to create a cloud/cotton candy kind of look with a big, elegant puffy skirt. or you could create an impressive sculptural look, using the paper to create sharp, architectural shapes.

2. Tennis Balls

An odd pick, I know, but I can see some of these tennis balls being used to create an interesting look. Perhaps you want to use them to create a necklace for a conceptual ‘rich-tennis-playing cougar’ kind of look. or you could go all out and create a Tennis ball version of Gaga’s infamous bubble outfit.

3.Flex Pencils

I think these offer a plethora of opportunities- you could curl them up, use them as tassels, thin them out, layer them etc etc. you could do so many things with these flexible pencils to create a colourful look.

4. Ribbon

Again this one is a little easier and conventional. This material is often used in fashion, usually for decoration or fastening, but I reckon you could use this as the main item in your ensemble. Why not try making a beautiful dress made from layers of ribbons, or maybe weave some together to create anything from a cape to an earring!

5. Toy Soldiers

These may be the most challenging item on the list, but I reckon they could create something brilliant. These could make great jewellery, like earrings, a necklace, or a belt. or perhaps you could find a way to create a whole look with them!

I hope I’ve given you some DIY drag inspiration, hopefully some of you will rise to my challenge and give it a go!
